We use a box and the word CAUTION to tell about things that could hurt you if you were to ignore the warning. CAUTION: These mean there is something that could hurt you or other people. A notice tells about something that can damage the vehicle. Many times, this damage would not be covered by your vehicle’s warranty, and it could be costly. The sudden movement could startle and confuse you, or make you push a pedal when you do not want to. You can increase or decrease lumbar support in an area of the lower seatback with this control, located on the outboard sides of the front seat(s). To increase support, press and hold the front of the control. The button used to control the passenger’s heated seat is located on the passenger’s door panel. To heat the entire seat, press the horizontal button. CAUTION: Sitting in a reclined position when your vehicle is in motion can be dangerous. Even if you buckle up, your safety belts can not do their job when you are reclined like this. The shoulder belt can not do its job. This position reduces the chance of a neck injury in a crash. To raise the head restraint pull up on the head restraint. Your vehicle may have rear seat head restraints that can be adjusted up and down. Either side of the rear seat my be folded down to provide more cargo space. On the passenger side of the extended models, the lever at the base of the seat must be turned rearward to release the seatback. Folding the Seatbacks CAUTION: If the seatback is not locked, it could move forward in a sudden stop or crash. To do this, do the following: 1. Enter the rear cargo area of the vehicle. 2. Make sure the head restraints have been lowered completely. That could cause injury to the person sitting there. Always press rearward on the seatback to be sure it is locked. http://erhmglobal.com/userfiles/dc988-manual-pdf.xml specialist in blood banking study guide 3rd ed, specialist in blood banking study guide 3rd edition review. Folding the Seatback CAUTION: If the seatback is not locked, it could move forward in a sudden stop or crash. That could cause injury to the person sitting there. That could cause injury to the person sitting there. Always press rearward on the seatback to be sure it is locked. Make sure the rod pin is fully engaged in the lock. 6. Push and pull on the seat. The person wearing the belt could be seriously injured. After raising the rear seatback, always check to be sure that the safety belts are properly routed and attached, and are not twisted. To do this follow these directions: 1. Lift the head restraints up until they stop. 2. Press in the button on the side of the head restraint guide cap and lift up on the head restraint. In a collision, people riding in these areas are more likely to be seriously injured or killed. Do not allow people to ride in any area of your vehicle that is not equipped with seats and safety belts. Put someone on it. Take the simplest vehicle. Suppose it is just a seat on wheels. 1-23. The rider does not stop. 1-24 The person keeps going until stopped by something. In a real vehicle, it could be the windshield. With safety belts, you slow down as the vehicle does. You get more time to stop. You stop over more distance, and your strongest bones take the forces. That is why safety belts make such good sense. 1-25. You could be — whether you are wearing a safety belt or not. But you can unbuckle a safety belt, even if you are upside down. Here is how to wear it properly. 1. Close and lock the door. 2. Adjust the seat so you can sit up straight. To see how, see “Seats” in the Index. 3. In a crash, this applies force to the strong pelvic bones. And you will be less likely to slide under the lap belt. If you slid under it, the belt would apply force at your abdomen. The shoulder belt is too loose. It will not give nearly as much protection this way. CAUTION: You can be seriously hurt if your shoulder belt is too loose. http://lembit.ru/userfiles/dc9320-manual.xml In a crash, you would move forward too much, which could increase injury. The belt is buckled in the wrong place. 1-30 CAUTION: You can be seriously injured if your belt is buckled in the wrong place like this. In a crash, the belt would go up over your abdomen. The belt forces would be there, not at the pelvic bones. The belt is over an armrest. CAUTION: You can be seriously injured if your belt goes over an armrest like this. The belt would be much too high. In a crash, you can slide under the belt. The shoulder belt is worn under the arm. It should be worn over the shoulder at all times. 1-32 CAUTION: You can be seriously injured if you wear the shoulder belt under your arm. In a crash, your body would move too far forward, which would increase the chance of head and neck injury. The belt is twisted across the body. CAUTION: You can be seriously injured by a twisted belt. In a crash, you would not have the full width of the belt to spread impact forces. The belt should go back out of the way. Before you close the door, be sure the belt is out of the way. If you slam the door on it, you can damage both the belt and your vehicle. The right front passenger’s safety belt works the same way as the driver’s safety belt — except for one thing. If you ever pull the shoulder portion of the belt out all the way, you will engage the child restraint locking feature which may turn off the passenger’s frontal airbag. Buckle, position and release it the same way as the lap part of a lap-shoulder belt. If the belt is not long enough, see Safety Belt Extender on page 1-41. Make sure the release button on the buckle is positioned so you would be able to unbuckle the safety belt quickly if you ever had to. Do not let it get twisted. The shoulder belt may lock if you pull the belt across you very quickly. If this happens, let the belt go back slightly to unlock it. The lap part of the belt should be worn low and snug on the hips, just touching the thighs. http://gbb.global/blog/boss-dr-880-dvd-manual In a crash, this applies force to the strong pelvic bones. CAUTION: You can be seriously hurt if your shoulder belt is too loose. In a crash, you would move forward too much, which could increase injury. To unlatch the belt, just push the button on the buckle. The guide must be on top of the belt. 1-40. Make sure that the shoulder belt crosses the shoulder. To remove and store the comfort guides, squeeze the belt edges together so that you can take them out of the guides. If you have the choice, a child should sit in a seat that has a lap-shoulder belt and get the additional restraint a shoulder belt can provide. Here two children are wearing the same belt. The belt can not properly spread the impact forces. In a crash, the two children can be crushed together and seriously injured. A belt must be used by only one person at a time. What if a child is wearing a lap-shoulder belt, but the child is so small that the shoulder belt is very close to the child’s face or neck? Here a child is sitting in a seat that has a lap-shoulder belt, but the shoulder part is behind the child. If the child wears the belt in this way, in a crash the child might slide under the belt. A baby does not weigh much — until a crash. During a crash a baby will become so heavy it is not possible to hold it.Add-on child restraints, which are purchased by the vehicle’s owner, are available in four basic types. Selection of a particular restraint should take into consideration not only the child’s weight, height, and age but also whether or not the restraint will be compatible with the motor vehicle in which it will be used. A young child’s hip bones are still so small that the vehicle’s regular safety belt may not remain low on the hip bones, as it should. The harness system holds the infant in place and, in a crash, acts to keep the infant positioned in the restraint. http://www.metanoiaconsultantsglobal.com/images/756-pro-iii-service-manual.pdf 1-48 A forward-facing child seat (C-E) provides restraint for the child’s body with the harness and also sometimes with surfaces such as T-shaped or shelf-like shields. A booster seat can also help a child to see out the window. If it is, it will have a label saying that it meets federal motor vehicle safety standards. Then follow the instructions for the restraint.General Motors recommends that rear-facing child restraints be secured in the rear seat, even if the airbag is off. If you need to secure a forward-facing child restraint in the right front seat, always move the front passenger seat as far back as it will go. In the United States, some child restraints also have a top strap. If your child restraint has a top strap, it should be anchored. Anchor the top strap to one of the following anchor points. Do not secure a child restraint in the right front passenger’s position or the third row outboard seating positions if a national or local law requires that the top strap be anchored, or if the instructions that come with the child restraint say that the top strap must. Do not secure a child restraint in the right front passenger’s position or the third row driver’s-side and center seating positions if a national or local law requires that the top strap be anchored, or if the instructions that come with the child restraint say that the top strap must be anchored. This system, designed to make installation of child restraints easier, does not use the vehicle’s safety belts. See Lower Anchorages and Top Tethers for Children (LATCH System) on page 1-55. Be sure to follow the instructions that came with the child restraint. Secure the child in the child restraint when and as the instructions say. Be sure to follow the instructions that came with the child restraint. Secure the child in the child restraint when and as the instructions say. 1. Make the belt as long as possible by tilting the latch plate and pulling it along the belt. A rear seat is a safer place to secure a forward-facing child restraint. See Where to Put the Restraint on page 1-50. In addition, your vehicle has a passenger sensing system. See Power Seats on page 1-4 or Manual Seats on page 1-3. If your child restraint is equipped with the LATCH system, see Lower Anchorages and Top Tethers for Children (LATCH System) on page 1-55. The child restraint instructions will show you how. 4. Buckle the belt. Make sure the release button is positioned so you would be able to unbuckle the safety belt quickly if you ever had to. Your vehicle may also have side impact airbags. Side impact airbags are available for the driver and right front passenger. And, for some unrestrained occupants, frontal airbags may provide less protection in frontal crashes than more forceful airbags have provided in the past.Airbags plus lap-shoulder belts offer the best protection for adults, but not for young children and infants. Neither the vehicle’s safety belt system nor its airbag system is designed for them. The driver’s frontal airbag is in the middle of the steering wheel. The right front passenger’s frontal airbag is in the instrument panel on the passenger’s side. 1-69. Do not put anything between an occupant and an airbag, and do not attach or put anything on the steering wheel hub or on or near any. Some components of the airbag module will be hot for a short time. These components include the steering wheel hub for the driver’s frontal airbag and the instrument panel for the right front passenger’s frontal airbag. The indicator will be visible when you turn your ignition key to START or RUN. The words ON and OFF or the symbol for on and off, will be visible on the rearview mirror during the system check. A label on your sun visor says, “Never put a rear-facing child seat in the front.” This is because the risk to the rear-facing child is so great, if the airbag deploys. If this happens, slightly recline the vehicle’s seatback and adjust the seat cushion if possible. If this ever happens, have the vehicle serviced promptly, because an adult-size person sitting in the right front passenger’s seat may not have the protection of the frontal airbag. There are airbag system parts in several places around your vehicle. Your dealer and the service manual have information about servicing your vehicle and the airbag system. Changing or moving any parts of the front seats, safety belts, the airbag sensing and diagnostic module (located under the driver’s seat), or the inside rearview mirror can affect the operation of the advanced airbag system. A damaged restraint system may not properly protect the person using it, resulting in serious injury or even death in a crash. To help make sure your restraint systems are working properly after a crash, have them inspected and any necessary replacements made as soon as possible. They could operate the power windows or other controls or even make the vehicle move. The children or others could be badly injured or even killed. Do not leave the keys in a vehicle with children. If you ever lose your keys, your dealer will be able to assist you with obtaining replacements. Notice: If you ever lock your keys in your vehicle, you may have to damage the vehicle to get in. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: 1. If a transmitter is lost or stolen, a replacement can be purchased through your dealer. Remember to bring any remaining transmitters with you when you go to your dealer. The transmitter does not send the same signal twice to the receiver. The receiver will not respond to a signal that has been sent previously. This prevents anyone from recording and playing back the signal from the transmitter. You can use the keyless entry system, if equipped, or you can also use your key. To lock the door from the inside, slide the lever rearward. To unlock the door, slide the lever forward. Press the top of the switch to unlock all the doors at once. The power door locks will operate at any time even when the ignition is off. You can program this feature through the Driver Information Center (DIC), or by the following method. Programmable Locking Feature Following are the two available programming options: Mode 1: All doors lock when the transmission is shifted into gear. Mode 2: All doors unlock when the transmission is shifted into PARK (P). Mode 3: All doors unlock when the key is removed from the ignition. This feature is located on the inside edge of the rear doors. To use one of the locks do the following: 1. You cannot see or smell CO. It can cause unconsciousness and even death. If you must drive with the liftgate glass, liftgate, or rear doors open, or if electrical wiring or other cable connections must pass. They can be overcome by the extreme heat and suffer permanent injuries or even death from heat stroke. Never leave a child, a helpless adult, or a pet alone in a vehicle, especially with the windows closed in warm or hot weather. The driver’s door has a switch for the passenger and rear windows as well. Your power windows will work when the ignition has been turned to ACCESSORY or RUN or when Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is active. There is a slide switch to adjust the brightness of the lamps. Theft-Deterrent Systems Vehicle theft is big business, especially in some cities. Although your vehicle has a number of theft-deterrent features, we know that nothing we put on it can make it impossible to steal. It activates only if you use a power door lock switch with the door open, or with the remote keyless entry transmitter. If a correct key is not used or the ignition lock cylinder is tampered with, fuel is disabled. A (Lock): This position locks the ignition and transmission. It is a theft-deterrent feature. You will only be able to remove the key when the ignition is turned to LOCK. This feature assists in starting the engine and protects the electrical system. This feature may cause the engine to crank even after the ignition key is not in START. Move your shift lever to PARK (P) or NEUTRAL (N). This feature is designed for shorter drivers, since the pedals can not move farther away from the standard position, but can move toward the driver for better pedal reach. CAUTION: Plugging the cord into an ungrounded outlet could cause an electrical shock. Your vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission and features an electronic shift position indicator within the instrument panel cluster. This display must be powered anytime the shift lever is capable of being moved out of PARK (P). Notice: Shifting to REVERSE (R) while your vehicle is moving forward could damage the transmission. The repairs would not be covered by your warranty. Shift to REVERSE (R) only after your vehicle is stopped. You can use SECOND (2) on hills. It can help control your speed as you go down steep mountain roads, but then you would also want to use your brakes off and on. If you manually select SECOND (2) in a light duty automatic transmission, the transmission will drive in second gear. Four-Wheel Drive If your vehicle has four-wheel drive, you can send your engine’s driving power to all four wheels for extra. You or someone else could be seriously injured. Be sure to set the parking brake before placing the transfer case in NEUTRAL. You or someone else could be seriously injured. Be sure to set the parking brake before placing the transfer case in NEUTRAL. AWD is like four-wheel drive, but there is no separate lever or switch to engage or disengage the front axle. You or someone else could be seriously injured. Be sure to set the parking brake before placing the transfer case in NEUTRAL. Press and release the 4LO switch.Push down the parking brake pedal with your left foot.Your vehicle can roll. If you have left the engine running, the vehicle can move suddenly. If you have four-wheel drive and your transfer case is in NEUTRAL, your vehicle will be free to roll, even if your shift lever is in PARK (P). You have to fully apply your regular brakes before you can shift from PARK (P) when the ignition is in RUN. It contains the gas carbon monoxide (CO), which you cannot see or smell. It can cause unconsciousness and death.Your vehicle can roll. Do not leave your vehicle when the engine is running unless you have to. If you have left the engine running, the vehicle can move suddenly. Push the tab away from you for normal daytime operation.Such interference may be caused by a magnetic antenna mount, magnetic note pad holder, or a similar magnetic item. To alternate the temperature reading between Fahrenheit and Celsius, press and hold the TEMP button for approximately four seconds until the display blinks F and C. It will be necessary to adjust the compass to compensate for compass variance if the vehicle is outside zone eight. Under certain circumstances, as during a long distance cross-country trip, it will be necessary to adjust for compass variance. If the vehicle has this feature, the mirror will display the word ON, or an airbag symbol in Canada, when the passenger airbag is enabled. Move the selector switch located above the control pad to the left or right to choose the mirror you want to adjust, then press the dots located on the four-way control pad to adjust the mirror. Move the upper selector switch to the left or right to choose the mirror you want to adjust; then press the dots located on the four-way control pad to adjust the mirror. This feature is controlled by the on and off settings found on the electrochromic mirror. See Automatic Dimming Rearview Mirror with Compass and Temperature Display on page 2-44. It is a hands-free wireless phone that is integrated into the vehicle. Calls can be placed nationwide using simple voice commands with no additional contracts and no additional roaming charges. This includes any garage door opener model manufactured before April 1, 1982.Do not release the buttons until Step 4 has been completed. Some entry gates and garage door openers may require you to substitute Step 3 with the procedure noted in “Gate Operator and Canadian Programming”. Similarly, some U.S. gate operators are manufactured to “time out”. To open it, press the button and swing the console lid open. The rear of the console has a cupholder that swings down for the rear seat passenger to use. Luggage Carrier If you have the luggage carrier, you can load things on top of your vehicle. If items are loaded on the roof of the vehicle, care should be taken not to block or damage the CHMSL unit. If your vehicle has the Z71 option, your vehicle’s luggage carrier has a roller crossrail at the rear of the vehicle. You or others could be injured. If you remove the cover, always store it in the proper storage location. When you put it back, always be sure that it is securely reattached. To open or close your sunroof, the ignition or RAP needs to be active. See Retained Accessory Power (RAP) on page 2-20. Press and release the rear side of the button located in the front overhead console to express-open the glass panel and sunshade. These buttons are used to program and recall memory settings for the driver’s seat, throttle and brake pedals and both the driver’s and passenger’s outside mirrors. The seat position can be saved for up to two drivers. See Four-Wheel Drive on page 2-27. They also let police know you have a problem. To tilt the wheel, hold the steering wheel and pull the lever. Then move the steering wheel to a comfortable position and release the lever to lock the wheel in place. These positions allow you to signal a turn or a lane change. To signal a turn, move the lever all the way up or down. It works even if your headlamps are in the automatic position. To use it, pull the turn signal lever toward you, then release it. The wipers will clear the window and then either stop or return to your preset speed. CAUTION: In freezing weather, do not use your washer until the windshield is warmed. You could be startled and even lose control. Keep the cruise control switch off until you want to use cruise control. Hold it there until you get up to the speed you want, and then release the switch.Turn the control clockwise to operate the lamps. The headlamp control has four positions: (Off): Turning the control to this position turns off the Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) and the automatic headlamps. To disable the chime, turn the light off then back on. Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) can make it easier for others to see the front of your vehicle during the. The radio lights will also be dim. To turn off the automatic headlamp system, turn the exterior lamps switch to the off position and then release. The fog lamp button is located on the left side of the instrument panel. The thumbwheel for this feature is located next to the headlamp control. Turn the thumbwheel up to adjust the instrument panel lights. Turn the thumbwheel up to return the radio display to full brightness when the headlamps or parking lamps are on. The lights will not come on if the dome override button is pressed in. Front Reading Lamps The reading lamps are located on the overhead console. Your vehicle may have two accessory power outlets, or may have one accessory power outlet located near the cigarette lighter, if equipped. To turn the fan off, turn the knob to the off position. (Off): If the fan is off, outside air will still enter the vehicle, and will be directed based on the position of the mode knob. Turn the knob to the off position to turn off the fan. If the knob is in off outside air will still enter the vehicle, and will be directed based on the position of the mode knob. This lever also adjusts the temperature to the center console outlets (if equipped). The rear window defogger uses a warming grid to remove fog from the rear window. The temperature can be adjusted even if the system is turned off.Use the steps below to place the entire system in automatic mode: 1. Press the AUTO button. When AUTO is selected, the display will change to show the current driver’s set temperature, delivery mode and fan speed. This direction can be changed by pressing the mode button. The temperature can also be adjusted using either temperature knob. This is normal and helps to prevent fogging. When the weather is cool or damp, operating the system in recirculation for extended periods of time may cause fogging of the vehicle’s windows. The rear window defogger uses a warming grid to remove fog from the rear window. One fan speed selector is located in the overhead console and the other is located in the headliner above the second row seats. One control is located in the overhead console and the other is located in the headliner above the second row seats. The system can be controlled from the front controls as well as the rear controls. Fan Knob The fan knob on the left side of the control panel adjusts the fan speed. The climate control has an overhead control near the driver and a control on the back of the center console. The driver overhead control fan knob must be set to the AUX position. The pictures will help you locate them. Warning lights and gages can signal that something is wrong before it becomes serious enough to cause an expensive repair or replacement. Canada and Light Duty Transmission Clusters similar. Your instrument cluster is designed to let you know at a glance how your vehicle is running. You’ll know how fast you’re going, about how much fuel you have and many other things you’ll need to know to drive safely and economically. Your odometer shows how far your vehicle has been driven, in either miles (used in the United States) or kilometers (used in Canada). Engine Hour Meter Display The Driver Information Center (DIC) can also display the number of hours the engine has run. See Passenger Sensing System on page 1-76 for more on this, including important safety information. If, after several seconds, all status indicator lights remain on, or if there are no lights at all, there may be a problem with the lights or the passenger sensing. When the engine is running, the gage shows the condition of the charging system. The gage may transition from a higher to lower or a lower to higher reading, this is normal. Have your brake system inspected right away.If the light stays on, or comes on when you’re driving, your vehicle needs service. This is normal operation. To turn the system back on, move the shift lever back to a position other than FIRST (1);. If so, be sure to fuel your vehicle with quality fuel. See Gasoline Octane on page 5-5. Poor fuel quality will cause your engine not to run as efficiently as designed.Canadian vehicles indicate pressure in kPa (kilopascals). Oil pressure may vary with engine speed, outside temperature and oil viscosity, but readings above the low pressure zone indicate the normal operating range. Cruise Control Light This light comes on whenever you set your cruise control. The light will go out when the cruise control is turned off. See Cruise Control on page 3-11 for more information. 3-52 Highbeam On Light This light will come on. Fuel Gage United States The fuel gage, when the ignition is on, tells you about how much fuel you have left in your tank. The DIC buttons, if equipped, are located on the steering wheel. After a short delay, the DIC will display the information that was last displayed before the engine was turned off. The DIC has different modes which can be accessed by pressing the four DIC buttons located on the steering wheel. Press the trip information button until TIRE PRESSURES appears on the display. This mode shows the tire pressure in pounds per square inch (psi) or kilopascals (kPa). This mode shows the number of gallons or liters of fuel used since the last reset of this menu item. To reset the fuel used information, press and hold the select button for one second while FUEL USED is displayed. If there is more than one message that needs to be displayed, they will appear one after another. See Passenger Sensing System on page 1-76. This message will display and a chime will sound when the ignition is on, the driver’s seat belt is buckled, the passenger’s seat belt is unbuckled with the passenger airbag enabled and the vehicle is in motion. When you change the engine oil, be sure to reset the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message. This message will clear itself after 10 seconds until the next ignition cycle or until the message is reset. See Windshield Washer Fluid on page 5-40. Pressing any of the four DIC buttons, if equipped, will acknowledge the message and clear it from the DIC display. Refuel as soon as possible. See Fuel Gage on page 3-53 and Fuel on page 5-5. Pressing any of the four DIC buttons, if equipped, will acknowledge the message and clear it from the DIC display. See “Engine Oil Life System” under DIC Operation and Displays on page 3-55 and Engine Oil on page 5-16 for more information. See Engine Overheating on page 5-29 for further information.Have your GM dealer inspect the system for problems. See Airbag Readiness Light on page 3-39 and Airbag System on page 1-66 for more information. Pressing any of the four DIC buttons, if equipped, will acknowledge the message and clear it from the DIC display. If the message appears turn off the vehicle. Restart the vehicle and check for the message on the DIC display. If the message is still displayed or appears again when you begin driving, the ride control needs service.
