Step 1: Create a Layout Draw a roug h sketc h of the bui lding to get an id ea of wh ere all alarm detec tion devices, keypa ds and other modules are to be lo cated. Step 2: Mounting the Panel Mount the panel in a dr y area close to an unswitch ed AC power so urce and the inco ming teleph one line. Befor e attach- ing the cabi net to the wall, be sure to press the four cir cuit boar d mounting studs into the cabinet fr om the back. After you have attach ed the cabin et to the wall, stick the provided DSC logo sticker on t he fron t of the cabin et. NO TE: Y ou must compl ete all wiring b efore c onnecti ng the bat- tery, or apply ing AC to the panel. Step 3: Wiring the Keybus (Section 2.3) Wir e th e Ke ybus to each of the modules following the guide- line s pr o vid ed in Se ction 2.3 of t his manual. Step 4: Zone Wiring (Section 2.8) Y ou must power down the contr ol pan el to complete all zone wiring. Pleas e refer to 2.8 “Zone W iring” on page 5 whe n con- necti ng zones using normally closed loops, single EOL res is- tors, doub le EOL resis tors, Fire zon es and Keyswit ch Arming zone s. Step 5: Complete Wiring (Section 2.2) Compl ete all o ther wiring includin g bel l s or sirens, tele phone line connec tions, and gro und con nections followin g the guide- line s pr o vided i n Section 2.2 (“T erminal Descript ions”). Step 6: Power up the Control Once all z one and Key bus wiri ng is complete, power up the contr ol panel. First, conne ct the re d battery lead t o t he po si- tive terminal and the black lead to negative. Then, con nect the AC. NO TE: Connect the ba tter y bef ore con nectin g the AC.

Step 7: Keypad Assignment (Section 2.5) In ord er for keypads to be properly supervis ed, each must be assign ed to a dif ferent s lot. Section 5 con- tains a complete descrip tion o f the various pro grammable fea- tur es, wh ich opt ions are avail able an d how they function. Fi ll out the Prog ramm ing Work sheets completel y before attempt- ing t o program the system. Step 10: T esting the System T est the panel thoro ughly to ensur e that all featur e s and func- tions a re operati ng as pro grammed. 2.2 T erminal Des criptions Batter y Connection A 12V 4Ah recharge able batte r y i s used as a backup source of power in the e ven t of an AC power fail ure. The battery also pro vides additiona l curr ent wh en t he pane l’ s deman ds excee d the power output of the trans former, such a s when the panel is in alarm. Connect the battery bef ore connec ting the A C. Connect the RE D battery lead to the positive battery terminal; connec t the BLACK lea d to negati ve. Conne ct the transfo r mer to an uns w itched AC sou rce a nd conne ct the transfo r mer to these te r minals. NO TE: Do no t conn ect th e tra n sf ormer until all ot her wiring is complete. The AUX output is protect ed. This means that if too much curren t i s drawn from these terminals (such as a wiring short), the panel will temporarily shut off the output u ntil the pr oblem is co rre cted. Please note that the Bell output is protec ted: if too much curren t is drawn from thes e terminals (s uch as a wiring short), the Bell PTC will open. T hree amps can be dra wn for short perio ds only. The Bell ou tput is superv ised. If no alarm wa rning devi ces are in use, connec t a 1000. For more information, see sect ion 2.3 “Keybus Opera - tion an d Wiring ” on pag e 4. PG M 2 operates similarl y to PGM1.

NO TE: The fou r K eyb us terminals of the panel mus t be con- nected to the fou r K eybu s terminals or wires of all modules. Use the data prese nted bel ow to ensur e that no part of the system is overloa ded and cannot functi on prop erly. Key pad a s sign ment is r equir ed, a s it tells the panel whi ch slot s are occup ied. The pane l can then genera te a fault wh en a keypad supervis ory is not presen t. NOTE: One LCD k eypa d must be ass igned to slot 8 in o rder to uploa d ke ypad prog ramming usi ng DLS-1 s oftware. NOTE: PC5509 k eypa d s are alw ay s assigne d to slot 1. The y cannot be reprogr ammed.How to Program Function Keys By de fault, the 5 function keys on each keypad ar e pro- grammed as Stay Ar m (03), Away Arm (04), Chime (06), Sen- sor Reset (14) and Quick Exit (16). Superv i sio n is enabl ed at all times so that the panel can i ndi- cate a tr ouble if a modul e is remov ed from the s ystem.

The pane l can be pro grammed to supervise nor- mally close d, End of Line, or Do uble End of Line loops. Plea se r efer to the following diagrams to study each type of indivi du- ally supervi sed zo ne wiring. If yo u do not, the zones ma y not wo r k cor- rectly. NO TE: This opti on should on ly be selected if Normally Clo sed (NC) det ection de v ices o r contact s are bein g used. NO TE: This opti on should be selec ted if either No rmally Closed (NC) or Nor mally Open (NO) detec tion dev i ces or contac ts are be in g us ed. Double End of Line (DEOL) Resistors Double End of Line resistors allo w the pan el to dete r mine if the zone i s in alarm, tampe red or faul ted. NO TE: If the Do uble EOL supervision o ption i s en abled, all hardwire zones on the main panel must be wi red for D oub le EOL res i stors, ex cept f or Fire and 24 Hour Supervisory z ones. NO TE: Do not wire DEOL resistors o n ke ypad z ones. NO TE: Do not use DE OL resis tors fo r Fire zone s or 24 Hour Supervisory zones. Do not wire Fire zo nes to k eypa d zone ter- minal s if th e DEOL supervision opti on is se lected. NO TE: Only one NC contac t can be c onnected to each zone. Wiring multip le detec tion de vices or con tacts on a sin gle loop is not allo wed. With a LINKS Supervisory zone, if the LINKS1000 experi ences a trou ble, the zone wi ll be vio lated, caus- ing t he panel to report th e event to the central station.

LINKS Answer When using th e LINKS1 000 cellu lar communicator, any main boar d zone may be config ured for LINKS Answer. A zone configur ed for LINKS Answe r allows downloa ding to be per- formed in the event of tele - phone line failur e. When the LINKS recei ves a tele - phone call, it wi ll ac tivate the RING ter minal on the LINKS cir cuit boar d. The zone programmed as LINKS Answer alway s requ ire s a sing le EO L resis- tor (560 0 ? ). Wir e the LI NKS Answer zone acc ord ing to th e above diagram. NOTE: The LINKS Answ er z one i s only required f or do wnload- ing to the pa nel via the L INKS. NOTE: When us ing the LINKS, Busy T one Detec tion must n ot be us ed. NOTE: K eypa d zones cannot b e used for 2 4 Hour Supervisory or LINKS An sw er. 2.12 Key pad Zon es Each “z” ke ypad on th e sy stem ha s a zone i nput to whic h a devic e - such a s a door contac t - can be conne cted. This elimina tes the need to run wires back to the cont rol p anel for every device. T o i nst all the keypad, open the keypad plastic by remov ing th e scr ew at the bottom of the unit. Locate t he five termin als on the keypad cir cuit boar d. Connect the four Keybu s wire s from the con trol panel: the red wire to R, the black to B, the yellow to Y an d the green to G. T o conn ect the zone, run on e wire to the Z terminal and th e other to B. For power ed device s, use red and black to s uppl y power to the device. Ru n the red wi re to the R (positive) termi- nal an d the blac k wir e to the B (negativ e) terminal. When u s ing end of line s upervisio n, connec t the zone accor d- ing to one of the configur ations outlin ed in section 2.8 “Zone End of line res istors must be placed on the device end o f the l oop, not at the keypad. NO TE: Ke ypad zone s do not support DEOL resisto rs.
Assigning Keypad Zones When usin g keypa d zone inpu ts, each input u sed must be assign ed a zone number in Instal ler’ s Pr ogramming. Ther e are eigh t programming locati ons i n this section, one for each keypad slot. NO TE: K eypad zon e s 1-6 will rep lace zone termi nals Z1-Z6 on the c ontrol pan el. NO TE: Once the k e ypad z ones are as signed, y ou must al so prog ram z one de finitio n s and z o ne attrib utes. (See also 5.4 “Assi gning Keyp ad Zones” o n page 17). If y o u have a PC1555RKZ keypa d, th e Sy stem light acts as a T roubl e, Memory, Pr ogram and Bypass indica tor. Unl ike other LED keypads, these condition s w ill only be re pre sente d by the System ligh t. The LCD key pad pr ovides a w ritte n desc ription on the l iqui d crystal display and uses function indicat or lights to communi- cate al ar m sta tus to the us er. The PC1565 Instructio n Manual prov ides ba sic dir ection s fo r arming and disarming the s yst em, bypassing zone s and per- forming use r functio ns from th e keypads. Th e following sec- tions provide a dditional details o n these functi ons. 3.1 Arming an d Disar min g For a descri ption of basic ar ming and disarming, pleas e see the PC1565 Instruction Manual. NO TE: The e vent b uffe r will log “Armed in Sta y Mode” or “Armed in A wa y Mode” whene v er the system is armed. In an atte mpt to prevent false alarms, the A udible Exit F ault will notify t he user of an improper e xit when they a r m their sys- tem. If a non force -ar ming Delay 1 or Delay 2 type zone is left open at the end of the exit delay, the entry delay will begin immediat ely and the bell or siren wil l sound a st eady alarm for the entr y delay period. At the end of the entry delay period, if the sys tem has no t been disarmed it wi ll go int o alarm. The Bypass light will remain on to inform the user that the interi or zones have been au tomatically bypass ed by the panel. For more information rega rdi ng Stay arming, ple ase see 3.
5 “Func tion Keys ” on pa ge 11. 3.3 Automatic Arm ing The s ystem can be progr am med to Auto-Arm at a specifi c time e very day if it is in the disarmed condi tion. In or der for the Auto-Arm function to work pro perly, you must pr ogram the cor- re ct Time of Day. When the system’ s internal cloc k matches the Auto-Arm Time, the pane l will check th e system s tatus. If the sy stem is ar med, the panel will do nothin g until the next day at the auto-a rm time, when it will check the system again. If the system is dis- armed at the auto-a r m time, the panel wi ll sound t he buzz er of all keypads for one minute. If a valid access code is entere d, auto-arming will be aborted. NOTE: If au to-arm is canc elled, the numb er of the user who cancell ed the auto-arm will be logged in the ev ent b uff er. If no code is entered, the panel will auto-arm. If the zone i s restor ed, the panel wi ll add the zo ne back i nto the system. The LED keypad uses the zone indicator lights to display command information. The LCD displa y prov ides written information, guiding the user through each command. The commands in thi s secti on ar e expla ined as viewe d fro m an LED keypad. A bypas s ed z one will no t caus e an alarm. NOTE: Zo nes c an on ly be b ypassed whe n the system i s not armed.The trou ble beep can be sile nced by pr ess ing any key on any ke ypad. The zone i ndicator lights co rres pondi ng to the pr esent trouble condi tions wi ll be ON. When using an LCD keypad, the trou ble conditio ns will be listed on the d isplay. If the opt ion is disabled, F aults and T ampers will be dis- pla yed on the ke ypad NO TE: Once a zone is tampered or f ault ed, it must be completely restored before the troub le condit ion will clear. 7 Device Low Battery: A wireless device has a low batter y condition. This trouble is cleared when an attem pt is mad e to reset the clock. T wo dure s s co des Access co des (41)-(42 ). Master code attribut es canno t b e changed. W hen the Code Required for By passing option i s e nabled, users will need to enter a valid access code wh en bypa ssing z ones. Indivi dual acce ss codes can hav e the Zone Bypass ing attribute disabled under Ac cess Code Attribute pro gramming. For more informatio n r egardi ng ac cess code options, please see 5. 1 “Pr ogramming Se curity Codes ” on pa ge 15. Access Code Attrib utes Ther e are three access code attributes which can be pro- grammed for ea ch code. The keypad will sound thre e short beeps when auto-arm is enabled and one lo ng beep when dis abled.

NO TE: If the Exi t Dela y is in prog ress, perf or ming a Quic k Exit will n ot ex tend the Exit De la y. 3.5 Function Keys Ther e are five functio n keys on each keypad label led Stay, A way, Chi me, Res et an d Exit. Each of these k eys is pr o- grammed by default to perform one o f the fun ctions described below. Pr ess and hold the appro priate key for two second s to activa te a fun ction. If Quick Ar m is not enable d, the user wi ll ha v e to ente r an access code before the system wi ll away arm.Backlighting Boost The LCD5500Z, PC55XXZ and PC1555RKZ zone inpu t key- pads will provide ext ra nu mber pad l ighting when any key is pre s sed. The back lighti ng boos t will last fo r an ad ditional 30 secon ds after th e last ke ypres s. NO TE: Read the f ollo wing se ction of the man ual very careful ly bef ore y ou begin prog ramming. W e al so rec ommend filling out the Prog ramming W orksheet s section bef ore you progr am the pane l. For your refer ence, the correspon ding prog ramming sectio n s for the functions listed are highligh ted in text boxes such a s this one. 4.1 Installer’ s P rogramming Insta ller’ s Programming is used to pr ogram all communicator and panel options. The Progra m light (or System light on the PC1555RKZ) will flash to indicate th at you ar e in pr ogramming mode.
The Ar med ligh t will tur n on to indic ate that the panel is waiting for the thre e-digit pro gramming section n umber. 2. Enter the three- digit section number correspon ding to the sectio n you wish to pr ogram. NO TE: If the three -digit sectio n number ente red is i nv alid, or if the mo dule which pertains to the sec tion is not presen t, the ke ypad wil l sound a two sec ond erro r tone. Selec t that sectio n again and r e-enter the information co rrectly. NO TE: There mus t be one dig it in each bo x in the pro gram- ming s e ction in order f or the c hange to be v a lid. 4.2 Pr ogramming D ecimal D ata A s et numb er of programming boxes ar e allot ted for each sec- tion requi ring decima l data (e.g.: codes, teleph one numbers ). If a digi t is enter ed for each progra m box, the pane l will auto- matica l ly exit from the selected prog ramming s ection. The Ready l ight will turn OFF and the Armed light will turn ON. This is handy if you only need to change digits in the first few progra mming boxes. All other digits in the pro gramm ing section wi ll remai n unchanged. 4.3 Pr ogrammi ng HE X Data On occa sion, hexa decimal (HEX) di gits may be requ ired. The panel will enter HEX pr ogramming an d Ready light will beg in to flash. If anoth er HEX digit is r equir ed, pr ess the corr e spon ding nu mber. The Ready ligh t will turn on and the panel will retu r n to r egular de cimal pr ogramming.The pane l will use z one lights 1 thr ough 8 to indi cate if the di f- fere nt option s are enabl ed or disabl ed. Press the numbe r cor- res pondin g to the option to turn it ON or OFF. The Ready light will turn OFF and th e Ar med ligh t will turn ON. Refer to the Programming Work shee ts in this manual to deter- mine what each option repr esents and whether the light shoul d be ON or OFF for your appli cation. 4.5 V iew ing Programming LED Keypads Any programming section can be viewed from an LED key- pad.

Step 4: Zone Wiring (Section 2.8) Y ou must power down the contr ol pan el to complete all zone wiring. Step 10: T esting the System T est the panel thoro ughly to ensur e that all featur e s and func- tions a re operati ng as pro grammed. 2.2 T erminal Des criptions Batter y Connection A 12V 4Ah recharge able batte r y i s used as a backup source of power in the e ven t of an AC power fail ure. The battery also pro vides additiona l curr ent wh en t he pane l’ s deman ds excee d the power output of the trans former, such a s when the panel is in alarm. Connect the battery bef ore connec ting the A C. Connect the RE D battery lead to the positive battery terminal; connec t the BLACK lea d to negati ve. Conne ct the transfo r mer to an uns w itched AC sou rce a nd conne ct the transfo r mer to these te r minals. NO TE: Do no t conn ect th e tra n sf ormer until all ot her wiring is complete. The AUX output is protect ed. This means that if too much curren t i s drawn from these terminals (such as a wiring short), the panel will temporarily shut off the output u ntil the pr oblem is co rre cted. Please note that the Bell output is protec ted: if too much curren t is drawn from thes e terminals (s uch as a wiring short), the Bell PTC will open. T hree amps can be dra wn for short perio ds only. The Bell ou tput is superv ised. If no alarm wa rning devi ces are in use, connec t a 1000. For more information, see sect ion 2.3 “Keybus Opera - tion an d Wiring ” on pag e 4. PG M 2 operates similarl y to PGM1.

Use the data prese nted bel ow to ensur e that no part of the system is overloa ded and cannot functi on prop erly. Key pad a s sign ment is r equir ed, a s it tells the panel whi ch slot s are occup ied. The pane l can then genera te a fault wh en a keypad supervis ory is not presen t. NOTE: One LCD k eypa d must be ass igned to slot 8 in o rder to uploa d ke ypad prog ramming usi ng DLS-1 s oftware. NOTE: PC5509 k eypa d s are alw ay s assigne d to slot 1. The y cannot be reprogr ammed.How to Program Function Keys By de fault, the 5 function keys on each keypad ar e pro- grammed as Stay Ar m (03), Away Arm (04), Chime (06), Sen- sor Reset (14) and Quick Exit (16). LINKS Answer When using th e LINKS1 000 cellu lar communicator, any main boar d zone may be config ured for LINKS Answer. A zone configur ed for LINKS Answe r allows downloa ding to be per- formed in the event of tele - phone line failur e. When the LINKS recei ves a tele - phone call, it wi ll ac tivate the RING ter minal on the LINKS cir cuit boar d. NOTE: K eypa d zones cannot b e used for 2 4 Hour Supervisory or LINKS An sw er. 2.12 Key pad Zon es Each “z” ke ypad on th e sy stem ha s a zone i nput to whic h a devic e - such a s a door contac t - can be conne cted. This elimina tes the need to run wires back to the cont rol p anel for every device. T o i nst all the keypad, open the keypad plastic by remov ing th e scr ew at the bottom of the unit. Locate t he five termin als on the keypad cir cuit boar d. Connect the four Keybu s wire s from the con trol panel: the red wire to R, the black to B, the yellow to Y an d the green to G. T o conn ect the zone, run on e wire to the Z terminal and th e other to B. For power ed device s, use red and black to s uppl y power to the device. Ru n the red wi re to the R (positive) termi- nal an d the blac k wir e to the B (negativ e) terminal. When u s ing end of line s upervisio n, connec t the zone accor d- ing to one of the configur ations outlin ed in section 2.8 “Zone End of line res istors must be placed on the device end o f the l oop, not at the keypad. NO TE: Ke ypad zone s do not support DEOL resisto rs.
Assigning Keypad Zones When usin g keypa d zone inpu ts, each input u sed must be assign ed a zone number in Instal ler’ s Pr ogramming. Ther e are eigh t programming locati ons i n this section, one for each keypad slot. NO TE: K eypad zon e s 1-6 will rep lace zone termi nals Z1-Z6 on the c ontrol pan el. NO TE: Once the k e ypad z ones are as signed, y ou must al so prog ram z one de finitio n s and z o ne attrib utes. (See also 5.4 “Assi gning Keyp ad Zones” o n page 17). If y o u have a PC1555RKZ keypa d, th e Sy stem light acts as a T roubl e, Memory, Pr ogram and Bypass indica tor. Unl ike other LED keypads, these condition s w ill only be re pre sente d by the System ligh t. The LCD key pad pr ovides a w ritte n desc ription on the l iqui d crystal display and uses function indicat or lights to communi- cate al ar m sta tus to the us er. The PC1565 Instructio n Manual prov ides ba sic dir ection s fo r arming and disarming the s yst em, bypassing zone s and per- forming use r functio ns from th e keypads. Th e following sec- tions provide a dditional details o n these functi ons. 3.1 Arming an d Disar min g For a descri ption of basic ar ming and disarming, pleas e see the PC1565 Instruction Manual. NO TE: The e vent b uffe r will log “Armed in Sta y Mode” or “Armed in A wa y Mode” whene v er the system is armed. In an atte mpt to prevent false alarms, the A udible Exit F ault will notify t he user of an improper e xit when they a r m their sys- tem. If a non force -ar ming Delay 1 or Delay 2 type zone is left open at the end of the exit delay, the entry delay will begin immediat ely and the bell or siren wil l sound a st eady alarm for the entr y delay period. At the end of the entry delay period, if the sys tem has no t been disarmed it wi ll go int o alarm. The Bypass light will remain on to inform the user that the interi or zones have been au tomatically bypass ed by the panel. For more information rega rdi ng Stay arming, ple ase see 3.
5 “Func tion Keys ” on pa ge 11. 3.3 Automatic Arm ing The s ystem can be progr am med to Auto-Arm at a specifi c time e very day if it is in the disarmed condi tion. In or der for the Auto-Arm function to work pro perly, you must pr ogram the cor- re ct Time of Day. When the system’ s internal cloc k matches the Auto-Arm Time, the pane l will check th e system s tatus. If the sy stem is ar med, the panel will do nothin g until the next day at the auto-a rm time, when it will check the system again. If the system is dis- armed at the auto-a r m time, the panel wi ll sound t he buzz er of all keypads for one minute. If a valid access code is entere d, auto-arming will be aborted. NOTE: If au to-arm is canc elled, the numb er of the user who cancell ed the auto-arm will be logged in the ev ent b uff er. If no code is entered, the panel will auto-arm. If the zone i s restor ed, the panel wi ll add the zo ne back i nto the system. The LED keypad uses the zone indicator lights to display command information. The LCD displa y prov ides written information, guiding the user through each command. The commands in thi s secti on ar e expla ined as viewe d fro m an LED keypad. A bypas s ed z one will no t caus e an alarm. NOTE: Zo nes c an on ly be b ypassed whe n the system i s not armed.The trou ble beep can be sile nced by pr ess ing any key on any ke ypad. The zone i ndicator lights co rres pondi ng to the pr esent trouble condi tions wi ll be ON. When using an LCD keypad, the trou ble conditio ns will be listed on the d isplay. NO TE: T roubles c an be vie wed while ar med using the LCD ke y- pad, pro vided t he ke ypad is v ersion 2.0 or later. Older ke ypads will inc orrectly dis play “Fire T rouble”. The keypad will flash the Memory (or System) l ight and the zone indicator lights c orr e- spon ding to the alar m or tamp er cond itions which occurr ed durin g or sin ce the last armed pe riod. The ev ent buffer will log the ev ent.
NO TE: All tamper conditions must be ph ysically rest ored before the troubl e condit ion will clear. When a zone fault trouble cond ition occur s, the k eypad (s) o n the system will start to beep. NO TE: A Fire zone trouble will be generate d and displa yed in the armed st ate. 6 Zone T amper: A zone configur ed for D ouble End O f Line resisto r supe rvision has a ta mper condition, or the tamper switch is open on a wir eless devic e. When a tamper c ond ition occurs, th e keypad(s) will start to beep. If a zone i s tampere d or faulte d, it must be full y restor ed to clear t h e tr ouble. If the opt ion is disabled, F aults and T ampers will be dis- pla yed on the ke ypad NO TE: Once a zone is tampered or f ault ed, it must be completely restored before the troub le condit ion will clear. 7 Device Low Battery: A wireless device has a low batter y condition. This trouble is cleared when an attem pt is mad e to reset the clock. T wo dure s s co des Access co des (41)-(42 ). Master code attribut es canno t b e changed. W hen the Code Required for By passing option i s e nabled, users will need to enter a valid access code wh en bypa ssing z ones. Indivi dual acce ss codes can hav e the Zone Bypass ing attribute disabled under Ac cess Code Attribute pro gramming. For more informatio n r egardi ng ac cess code options, please see 5. 1 “Pr ogramming Se curity Codes ” on pa ge 15. NO TE: If a duress c ode is prog rammed, when it is use d, the panel wil l alwa ys send a rep or ting code to the centr al station, ev en if the a ttr ibut es of the dure ss code are tur ned off. The two supervi sor c odes hav e al l attributes on by defa ult. These s ettings ca n be chang ed. Access Code Attrib utes Ther e are three access code attributes which can be pro- grammed for ea ch code. The keypad will sound thre e short beeps when auto-arm is enabled and one lo ng beep when dis abled.

The ke ypad will dis play the ev ent, event nu mber, time and date along wi th the zone number and access code, if applic able. Brightness Contr ol Y ou can select from 10 di ffe rent backlig hting levels.When the Delay zone is sec ured, the panel will en d the two minute quick exit del ay. If a second Delay zon e is tripped, or i f the z one i s not res tor ed after two minutes, the panel wi ll begin e ntr y dela y 1. NO TE: If the Exi t Dela y is in prog ress, perf or ming a Quic k Exit will n ot ex tend the Exit De la y. 3.5 Function Keys Ther e are five functio n keys on each keypad label led Stay, A way, Chi me, Res et an d Exit. Each of these k eys is pr o- grammed by default to perform one o f the fun ctions described below. Pr ess and hold the appro priate key for two second s to activa te a fun ction. If Quick Ar m is not enable d, the user wi ll ha v e to ente r an access code before the system wi ll away arm.Backlighting Boost The LCD5500Z, PC55XXZ and PC1555RKZ zone inpu t key- pads will provide ext ra nu mber pad l ighting when any key is pre s sed. The back lighti ng boos t will last fo r an ad ditional 30 secon ds after th e last ke ypres s. NO TE: Read the f ollo wing se ction of the man ual very careful ly bef ore y ou begin prog ramming. W e al so rec ommend filling out the Prog ramming W orksheet s section bef ore you progr am the pane l. For your refer ence, the correspon ding prog ramming sectio n s for the functions listed are highligh ted in text boxes such a s this one. 4.1 Installer’ s P rogramming Insta ller’ s Programming is used to pr ogram all communicator and panel options. The Progra m light (or System light on the PC1555RKZ) will flash to indicate th at you ar e in pr ogramming mode.
The Ar med ligh t will tur n on to indic ate that the panel is waiting for the thre e-digit pro gramming section n umber. 2. Enter the three- digit section number correspon ding to the sectio n you wish to pr ogram. NO TE: If the three -digit sectio n number ente red is i nv alid, or if the mo dule which pertains to the sec tion is not presen t, the ke ypad wil l sound a two sec ond erro r tone. Selec t that sectio n again and r e-enter the information co rrectly. NO TE: There mus t be one dig it in each bo x in the pro gram- ming s e ction in order f or the c hange to be v a lid. 4.2 Pr ogramming D ecimal D ata A s et numb er of programming boxes ar e allot ted for each sec- tion requi ring decima l data (e.g.: codes, teleph one numbers ). If a digi t is enter ed for each progra m box, the pane l will auto- matica l ly exit from the selected prog ramming s ection. The Ready l ight will turn OFF and the Armed light will turn ON. This is handy if you only need to change digits in the first few progra mming boxes. All other digits in the pro gramm ing section wi ll remai n unchanged. 4.3 Pr ogrammi ng HE X Data On occa sion, hexa decimal (HEX) di gits may be requ ired. The panel will enter HEX pr ogramming an d Ready light will beg in to flash. If anoth er HEX digit is r equir ed, pr ess the corr e spon ding nu mber. The Ready ligh t will turn on and the panel will retu r n to r egular de cimal pr ogramming.The pane l will use z one lights 1 thr ough 8 to indi cate if the di f- fere nt option s are enabl ed or disabl ed. Press the numbe r cor- res pondin g to the option to turn it ON or OFF. The Ready light will turn OFF and th e Ar med ligh t will turn ON. Refer to the Programming Work shee ts in this manual to deter- mine what each option repr esents and whether the light shoul d be ON or OFF for your appli cation. 4.5 V iew ing Programming LED Keypads Any programming section can be viewed from an LED key- pad.
