No trades please as money will go towards funding another project. The EQ has a good range of useable sounds and nice sounding contour switch to kick in a pre-set EQ. The Overdrive goes from subtle to pretty gnarly and the blend control is a brilliant feature to retain some solid bottom end. There's the noise gate if things start to get a bit out of control. Subscribe to our free newsletter Whether I'm using the Korg DT-10 for simply practicing or for recording and live shows, the Korg DT-10 works perfectly for instruments that don't have a pick up. I usually prefer to mic up my acoustic instruments, so having the Korg DT-10 is vital for me to have around because I don't have any pick up to send the signal to a traditional tuner. This is overall a real easy tuner to use and it only takes a short amount of time to tune your guitar or other instrument each time. The price of the Korg DT-10 is really reasonable and I would say it is a must have for any person who plays an acoustic instrument but has no pick up. Even though I only really use this tuner on acoustic guitar, I have also seen it used for mandolin and violin with good results and I'm under the impression that it will work fine with any acoustic stringed instrument. The clip for the Korg DT-10 is pretty sturdy and I've never had any problems clipping it on or with it breaking or anything like that. While I would rather use another tuner like a Boss TU-2 that I could plug my instrument directly into for electric instruments, for strictly acoustic instruments the Korg DT-10 works best. If you play a lot of acoustic guitar and don't have a pick up for it or would rather mic it up, the Korg DT-10 must be looked into as it will make your life easier. Love this tuner! Did you find this review helpful? yes no. I tried out many other products: Boss, Arion, Korg and others I like the reliable display and the latency time. It reacts slowly, which doesn't mean that it doesn't work well, but it doesn't recognize all harmonics which can appear by resonance, and this is a very good thing. When you're on stage, nothing is more annoying than a tuner which continuously moves: you never know if you are in tune or not. I would buy it again. I kept one of the two I had because I'm satisfied with it. I sold the second one because I didn't use it anymore. Today, I would like to try out the TC tuner which seems to be really great. And we all know the quality of TC gear. However, the DT-10 is still a good product. It's not too big (a bit larger than the Pitchblack or the TC). Mute function, battery or PSU (9 V DC) operation. Easily readable on stage, even with blinding lights. Also available in rack version, if you have a guitar tech.Originally written by jelly.roll on Audiofanzine FR. Did you find this review helpful? yes no. It is a pedal tuner which makes it useful for live gigs. This tuner has a bright, clear display, easy to see in dark rooms. It's superbly accurate as well. It has a wide range, and can be adjusted via a button to drop the strings down several half steps for alternate tunings. It can be used with either a 9V battery or a 9V power supply. This gives you the option of muting all of your tuning excursions, or broadcasting them through the amp. I personally never use the bypass option, but it could be cool if you're going direct as well as through an amp. While this amp has certain cosmetic advantages, I'm not sure I would put this over the Boss tuners. The only reason being that those pedals have the ability to provide a daisy chain power supply to other pedals. This pedal does not have that option. While it doesn't seem like a big deal, it works very well in my experience. Granted, I do think this tuner is easier to use, and possibly more accurate, but that power supply thing is a deal-breaker for me. I think that the best use for this pedal is if you already have a pedal board with a power supply, or have some alternate source of power. I'm sure there are many players out there with this capability so I can recommend this tuner to all of you. I guess ultimately the power supply issue isn't as important as accuracy, and flexibility, and the seven semitone flat capability that I discussed before is a pretty big deal. Therefore, I can highly recommend this to anyone who isn't relying on their tuner for power. Near accurate tuning, very well lit in bright or dark surroundings. With one click of the foot you're in tuning mode, without switch noises or sound coming from the amp. Nothing! It's a sturdy metal unit, a 'floor type', with a foot operated switch button, with a non-slippery back. It also allowes for flat tuning and it has got a callibration switch. It operates on a 9V battery, 50 hours of continues use, or on a DC 9V connection. It has got 2 outputs, one for tuning with and one for tuning without sound from the amp., thats the one I use and wanted. I am very pleased with my Korg D-1600 MKII studio recorder, that's why I decided to go for Korg again; I think this company makes classy products. This review was originally published on Did you find this review helpful? yes no. It can be transferred to agree in silence, short but good. I'm selling because I do not need. 1 people did not find this review helpful Did you find this review helpful? yes no. Good thing I have room on my pedalboard, I grant a string at a time (I only have two hands) and I adoooooore his look. It is regrettable that it is not the fastest or the most accurate, but mostly I prefer not to take my head to waste time to keep still green LED (excluding studio conditions). This is not the perfect tuner, but it is one that is best for me today. 3 of 3 people found this review helpful Did you find this review helpful? yes no. It is easy to use! Robust, it has not aged a bit. A single button for the bypass works great. 1 people did not find this review helpful Did you find this review helpful? yes no. It is rammed through a transformer with my other BOSS pedals. Reliable and robust, it has everything supported: falls, kicks, sprayed beer customers a little too drunk. I use it for my bass all the time even to lead me home, can be a bit less sharp than tell me my digital tuner on the computer. To be compared with the Boss TU-2, it is my favorite! 1 people found this review helpful Did you find this review helpful? yes no. Relatively expensive for a tuner, but unbreakable and very accurate. I would do this choice without hesitation. 2 of 2 people found this review helpful Did you find this review helpful? yes no By using our services, you agree to our use of cookies. Find out more. Sampling can be triggered manually or automatically with the LCD acting as a VU input level meter as with Emax. Further sample editing facilities include Auto Truncate, which discards unused memory to save on total capacity, and the ability to edit down to individual sample points, which is handy (particularly if you discover a click in the middle of your sample) but can be long-winded through its very comprehensiveness. The Auto Loop Search mode is brilliantly effective, creating totally silent loops (most of the time), and Cross Fade Looping and Backwards-Forwards Looping are also available with programmable fade lengths. The actual disk storage method used by the DSS-1 is somewhat obscure. You can store up to 120 Multi Sounds and Sounds. Programs (the patches numbered 01 to 32) are stored separately for each System. However, Multi Sounds are shared. That is, the same Multi Sound can be used by any or all of the Systems. The individual Sounds. Thus, using disks to their fullest capacity is a real artform, and you'll probably find yourself putting only one System, or half-a-dozen short samples, on each disk. MIDI SPEC The DSS-1's MIDI implementation is pretty advanced, although it lacks the Prophet 2000 and Akai S700's Multi Modes to simultaneously assign different voices to different MIDI channels. Still, you can choose any MIDI channel from 1 to 16 as the send or receive channel, and can filter out control change and pitch bend messages. Most of this data can be saved as part of a program if required, and indeed the DSS-1 can dump whole samples or Multi Sounds over MIDI using System Exclusive codes. However, this can only be done at the request of an external unit such as a computer, and so it's not possible just to pump System Exclusive data out of the DSS-1 into a sequencer or other recording device. So what does the DSS-1 sound like. Well, more than any other contemporary sampler, the answer must be - whatever you want it to sound like. If you want untreated pre-sampled sounds you'll find that the DSS-1 has a very good line in pianos, rich strings, powerful brass and crisp, precise percussion. Several demo disks containing sections of pop chart material exist, and they are virtually indistinguishable in quality from the record. SUMMARY If you want complex samples, the DSS-1 will give you multisplits either of one sound (as on the Piano factory disk) or of many sounds (as on Percussion), with the odd reversed or spliced sound thrown in for good measure. If you want synthetic treatments, the DSS-1 will offer you filtering, detuning and modified envelopes plus very expressive control via keyboard velocity, aftertouch and the joystick. If you want to go over the top and sound like a Prophet 5, a MiniMoog or a PPG, the DSS-1 will give you that too thanks to its harmonic synthesis routines, with the bonus integral dual DDL providing as much echo and thickening as you wish. And, of course, the unique combinations possible when you mix sampled and synthesized sounds, synth treatments and those two digital delays together are quite spectacular. Sampling is easy to initiate, although Korg could have installed an even larger LCD (as on the Akai S900) and rendered rather more of their parameter indications in plain English. The sample assignment method as far as disk storage goes is frankly overcomplex, but familiarisation with the DSS-1's concepts of Sample, Multi Sound, System and Program shouldn't take too long. Overall, the DSS-1 is a true professional's instrument, and one which takes a little time to grow to love. If you're a genuine preset merchant, this may not be the sampler for you - it offers too many possibilities, so you'll be paying for facilities which you'll never touch.
