These things happen from time to time and knowing how to find and fix the problem is essential for any home sewer. One of the first things you need to learn when owning a sewing machine, and it doesn’t have to be a Pfaff, is to keep a record. A good record of oiling, maintenance, and repairs shortens your search for the problem plaguing your sewing machine currently. To learn how to find and fix some common sewing machine problems just continue to read our article. It gets you the information you need, tells you the solution, and gets you sewing faster than ever. If it has been a while that may be the problem right there. Thoroughly clean and oil your machine and it that solves the issue you are done. If not, then you have to check how you threaded your machine. If you made a mistake somewhere along the line, then re-thread the machine. It is also possible that you did not turn the power switch on, plugged your machine in or there is a loose wire somewhere. Check those spots first and take the appropriate action to solve the problem. If your foot pedal has a loose wire it may not work so check the wires there and tighten any loose ones up. Also, check to make sure the bobbin lever is in the sew position. For computerized sewing machines it is best to take the device into a qualified repairman. Also, if your warranty is still in effect do not touch the machine as that will void your protection. Pfaff Bobbin Problems If you did not wind the bobbin correctly then you will have bobbin problems. On some machines, the bobbin has a little notch on it that needs to match up with the little notch on the bobbin post. If those are not aligned right, you could have some problems. Just match those notches up. Then if that hasn’t solved your problem, check the needle. Is it the correct one for the machine and fabric. Is it in the wrong way. Is it inserted correctly and all the way. http://gopherandsquirrelcontrol.com/admin/images/align-trex-600-fbl-manual.xml sewing machine repair pfaff sewing machine repair manual, sewing machine repair pfaff sewing machine repair manual software, sewing machine repair pfaff sewing machine repair manuals, sewing machine repair pfaff sewing machine repair manual online, sewing machine repair pfaff sewing machine repair manual free. Is the needle dull, bent, or broken. Those are 4 questions you should ask yourself when searching for the problem. Replace the needle for the first, second, and fourth issues if those are the problems. Re-insert your needle if the third issue is the source of your problem. As always check to see if the bobbin and bobbin case area are nice and clean. If not give it a good cleaning. Finally, check to see if the thread you selected is smooth, not too large for the needle has no knots. If those elements are present you should change the thread. Bobbin Not Catching The needle has to be at the exact spot at the right time to pick up the bobbin thread. The way to solve this problem will take a little time. For a Pfaff 2030, you need to remove the foot holder, the foot, and the feed plate first. That is after you unplug your machine. Next, you need to remove the base. Make sure not to break any plastic piece and watch the cables. Now unhook the feed mode switch linkage and again be careful not to break anything. After that is done remove the cover from the bobbin area. Your timing area should be exposed now so get ready to adjust the hook and the needle. Double-check to see that the bobbin and bobbin case has been removed. Slowly spin the hand wheel and watch to make sure the needle goes down and up once while the bobbin mechanism spins twice. Next, turn the hand wheel towards you until the needle is lowered all the way. If not turn the bobbin area till the hook is in that position. Then tighten the back adjustment screw. Now test to make sure the timing is correct and then when it is, re-assemble the machine. There are no screws but a special sequence you have to go in to make sure the covers remain securely on when done. This is the part that is in front of the machine on top of the needle. ? Step 3: remove the screw located at the bottom center. Then push the motor or back cover down a little and pull towards you. This should clear the hand wheel. ? http://www.osteopatia.com.br/arquivos/align-trex-600n-manual.xml Step 4: Removing the bottom cover means you have to take the top and back cover off first. Then you unscrew 5 screws with the 5th one hidden in a little hole. If there is a free arm, remove the screw holding it in place. Step 5: That is how you disassemble the Pfaff sewing machine. Putting it back just follow the reverse order and you should be fine. One place you can check is at this link and be prepared to pay some money if we do not say the manual is free on any given website. The next location will be a free download but we are not sure if it covers all Pfaff repair manuals. You can check it out by clicking on this button. You can try the Pfaff website, but we have not found that location to be very helpful. This is another free download website for a service manual. It seems to have several pages of manuals for different Pfaff sewing machines. The next place to try is this location. We are not sure how much will cost you but it shouldn’t be too bad. Then this website has manuals for all sorts of machines but usually their prices are quite high. Finally, there is this website. It is a little cheaper than the previous one and you may have to search a little to find the one for your machine. Pfaff Sewing Machine Won't Turn On Make sure the machine is plugged in, the power switch is turned on and the foot pedal is plugged in correctly. Checking those simple areas first will save you a lot of embarrassment later. The next thing to do is to check for loose or frayed wiring. If your sewing machine is under warranty, let the qualified repairman do the search and repair. If not then tighten loose wires and replace frayed ones. After that, check your cleaning schedule to make sure the device doe snot need a good cleaning or oiling. A lack of lubrication can freeze different parts and keep the sewing machine from turning on. https://api.e-talmud.com/content/hunter-21617-manual If these simple things do not work, check the bobbin to make sure it and the case are inserted properly, the needle is not broken or bent and that you have threaded the machine correctly. Reinsert the bobbin and case correctly, replace the needle, and re-thread the machine. Foot Pedal Not Working If it has a capacitor, then that little piece may need to be replaced. It is not hard to check and only takes a few seconds to see if it is burned out or not. Then check the wiring. If they are loose or frayed then just tighten or replace the wires so the foot pedal works again. You can also check the cable from the foot pedal top the sewing machine to see if it has shorted out, had wires loosened, and so on. If that is the case then you may have to replace the foot pedal. If you fixed all those areas and it still doe snot work, replace the pedal. For, pedals with computer chips in them, let a qualified repairman handle the repair. Computer chips are not for the old fashioned handyman or those people who do not know how to work with computer chips. Pfaff Sewing Machine Handwheel Hard to Turn First, look at your cleaning and oiling schedule to see if the machine is due for either or not. If so then perform those functions and see if that clears up the problem. Sometimes a single thread in the hook area can cause a jam so look over your machine and do not leave any area unexamined. Your bobbin and hook area are prone to cause this type of problem. If there is a small thread somewhere in the machine, grip your hand wheel with one hand and the inner wheel with another and give the handwheel a hard turn towards you. That should clear the thread. Also, check the inner wheel to see if it is not causing the problem. Sometimes it gets jammed and needs to be cleaned or oiled to unstick it. There is also the possibility that a bearing has gone out on the machine. If you are under warranty this is not going to be an expensive fix. If you are not then check to see if it is worth paying the money for the repair. Pfaff Sewing Machine Stuck in Reverse You are probably tired of hearing this but a dirty machine may stop your sewing machine from sewing forward. If the feed dog area is dirty, it may be stopped in the forward direction but not the reverse. Clean your feed dog area and get all the threads and dirt out. In some Pfaff sewing machines built between 1980 and 2000, there is a small metal pivoting rod that may get stuck and keep your machine from switching gears. The repair of this pivot rod can take some time and you may not have the patience to do it. You will have to remove the bottom of the machine to get to it. A Q-tip with rubbing alcohol may clean the grime off the rod. Also, the reverse button may be stuck and if it is a new purchase, get your receipt and exchange it for a new one that is not broken. Some Final Words Maintaining a Pfaff sewing machine is like maintaining every other sewing machine ever made. There are common problems that have a common source and you need to spend time cleaning and lubricating. Always check to see if you have threaded the machine properly, placed the bobbin and its case correctly, then moved the bobbin lever to sew. After that, check the needle to make sure it is the right one for the machine and fabric, not bent, broken, or inserted incorrectly. Simple fixes first then the difficult ones. Clean only with a soft dry cloth. Cleaning the bobbin area Note: Lower the feed dogs by pressing presser foot up and extra lift. Without any material under the feet, the outer presser foot doesn't lift much, if at all (this is probably not right). I need to look into that. I'm pretty sure the outer presser foot list is linked to the inner foot, to make sure the outer foot lifts a certain height above whatever the inner foot rests on, no matter how much material is under the feet. Alas, the problem is (although not for me) that they're apparently only available in German. Well-written service manuals (Singer’s are a good example) usually don’t require any previous knowledge of the machine and explain it in such a way that anyone could learn it as they go along. Many such manuals are available for free download from manufacturers. Failing an Adjuster’s Manual, an exploded Parts Diagram will at least show what should be where. Singer produced hundreds of domestic models and over a thousand (slightly) different industrials. So is putting them in the car and taking them to the menders. Most of the repair books will help decide when to take which route. Remarkably thorough. Cornell Extension Bulletin 815 Simple maintenance for American machines from 1890-1930s.It dismisses treadles in an introductory paragraph and everything else pre-1960 in the following two pages. If these machines are what you’re after, then the service and repair information is excellent, with plenty of clear illustrations. Impressive trouble-shooting section and a chapter on servicing clutch motors, common to many industrials. Included as typical of some of the excellent publications, helpfully posted online by diligent manufacturers. Google and ye shall find. Tools for Self-Reliance is a charity that sends, amongst other things, sustainable sewing machines (common Singers) to the third world. They need donated machines to work and have produced these instructions, downloadable free online, to help generous members of the public service their donations. Extremely thorough and profusely illustrated with CLEAR photos of virtually every moving part, plus tensions, timings, case refurbishment, etc. Excellent! Basic, but a good place to start. In print (2010). An extensive troubleshooting guide with sufficient instructions to help operators maintain their machines. Generic information but clearly presented and illustrated. Canadian and a few British manufacturers are also included. Photographs of the needles to help I.D. The entries for Wanzer machines should be viewed with suspicion. Written by an expert collector. A phenomenal labour of love from a highly-respected collector. Currently (2009) out of print but the author reassures us, however, that a new version is being compiled and will be published when it’s ready. A hotchpotch of good but randomly presented maintenance instruction, interspersed with advice on setting up a repair business (which includes the suggestion that, having set up said repair business “any repair that involves replacing parts should be entrusted to a repair agent”). Pretty much all the necessary adjustments seem to be there but it’s up to the reader to translate the generic information to the specifics of their machine. Includes a chapter on blind-stitch machines but a good third of the book is simplistic advice on starting a home business (sample dot-matrix flyers?) and equipping a sewing room. Croydon, England. (some editions: Walla Walla, Washington, U.S.A.) An excellent and elegant read. Probably no longer affordable except, perhaps, by Isaac Singer’s heirs. Well-illustrated, comprehensive explanations of many American machines of the period and basic sewing instruction. Chapter on chain-stitch machines and their attachments.Good photography; clearly presented and elegantly designed. Produced during WWII to encourage the Home Front to make do and mend. A slight publication but a good place to start. Useful illustrated interchangeable needle list for American machines. Includes details of (nearly) all the extra attachments, Fashion Aids, puzzle boxes, oil cans, literature, furniture and loads more. Plenty of crisp photography and neat snippets of model information. Currently in print (2010). Possibly the best of the repair manuals for earlier machines. A valid selection of criteria to consider when buying a machine for sewing, rather than collecting. Many Japanese models. Excellent book, but pricey. Copious illustrations and directions but, as genuine copies currently fetch more than the cost of a professional overhaul, DIY may prove a false economy. Illustration is minimal and the constantly changing typefaces confusing. Please Note: Do not contact any ISMACS official in an attempt to solicit a valuation - it is not possible other than by hands-on assessment and your request will be ignored. Kindle Customer 5.0 out of 5 stars I don't understand the negative reviews. Some said their model wasn't covered. Well, a book that covers all models doesn't exist and never will. Some said they wanted more illustrations but I think it is very well illustrated. Some complained that the type is too small, well it's about what I find in most paper back books, fiction or non-fiction. Now there are a couple of exploded views which are indeed difficult to read but they are the exception. The author devotes the first three chapters to sewing machine mechanisms, general maintenance and generic repairs. The next four chapters cover various brands; Pfaff, White models with oscillating shuttles (common to most Japanese imported badged models) New Home machines and one Brother model. The important point is that the author chose certain popular models to illustrate different mechanisms, allowing you too use those principles to repair most vintage sewing machine models on your own. This is a very good book on vintage sewing machine repair. Many of the drawings are cramped and barely legible. The hardback version is probably larger, and therefore may contain larger, clearer drawings. The author gives a general overview which I found weakly tied to hard to read drawigns and then delves into Pffaf, New Home, Brother, and White models. Most of the machines I have are old Kenmore (Sears) and Montgomery Wards models. I would have liked to seen these models examined. I don't have any of the models listed, but I feel I can probably extrapolate how to fix the ones I have from this book. I expect to spend a lot of time flipping through the pages with the machine in question in front of me and looking at the drawings with a magnifying glass or enlarged on a copier. This is an EXCELLENT reference for older sewing machines. I work only with vintage sewing machines and anything you need to know about the mechanisms of them are in this book. Most sewing machines work on the same principles, so if you understand it, it will apply to all. I highly recommend it. So I searched and looked through books, and I had hoped this would be the best of what I had searched through. I was disappointed after getting the book. The read is not very user friendly and for a Visual Learn, it was tough for me keep reading. This might be good for some, but it didn't meet my expectation. It you're a reader, they get this. The pictures and text give you what you need to do adjustments and maintance on sewing machine models of that era. Its a great book for those who have the older all steel machines with zig zag also. Great BookPage 1 of 1 Start over Page 1 of 1 Previous page Next page. Even though sexual addiction is not currently recognized in the DSM-III-R, application of its criteria for chemical dependency as adapted for sexual behaviors and a score of 13 or more on this test suggest the diagnosis. Obtaining a thorough sexual history and asking questions about addiction problems in the patient’s family of origin are helpful. A few minutes of empathetic conversation can lead to clues that suggest addiction or coaddiction. Physicians can then recommend specific treatment and attendance at a support group for addicts or coaddicts. Depression is even more common among spouses of sex addicts than among spouses of alcoholics. To mask painful feelings, many coaddicts turn to overeating or bulimia, dependency on tranquilizers, overworking, or compulsive housecleaning. Those who were sexually abused may have recurrent abdominal or pelvic pain that defies diagnosis. Sexual addiction treatment programs suggest that patients abstain from all sexual activities, including masturbation, for 30 to 90 days to demonstrate that they can live without sex. When they stop all sexual activity, some sex addias report withdrawal symptoms similar to those experienced by cocaine addias. Involvement of the partner in the treatment program is highly desirable. In fact, the most important predictor of relapse after treatment of sexual addiction is failure of the spouse to be involved in the treatment program.(1) In the early recovery period, sex addicts and their partners frequency have sexual difficulties, often to a greater degree than they had during the active addiction phase.(12) If the compulsive sexual behavior was same-sex, as is surprisingly common even among men who identify themselves as heterosexual,(13) therapists can help patients work through issues of sexual identity. Shame, a major issue for sex addicts, is often addressed best in group therapy, where other recovering addicts can provide both support and confrontation. Most are located in hospitals that treat chemical dependency.Facilities that do not address sexual addiction may refer patients to other centers or to therapists if sexual issues are detected during treatment for chemical dependency. Attendance at a program dealing with sexual addiction can be extremely helpful in the recovery process. Programs modeled after Al-Anon (the self-help program for families and friends of alcoholics) are also available, and attendance by sex coaddicts is highly recommended. Group support can be a powerful tool for overcoming the shame that most sex addicts and coaddicts feel. We provide addresses of the national offices of 12-step programs for sex addicts and their families. Communication is lacking, and distrust, anger, and resentment are the hallmarks of the relationship. Couples counseling by a therapist who is knowledgeable about sexual addiction can be of great help. The therapist can facilitate forgiveness and rebuilding of trust(14) and can also help the couple deal with the sexual problems that often occur during recovery.(12) For couples who are willing to work on their individual recovery and on their relationship, the prognosis for survival and improvement of the relationship is surprisingly good.(7) To prevent this, recovering sex addicts learn to avoid particular people and situations that can trigger old urges and behaviors. Some recovering addicts find that they need to avoid masturbation as well. Coleman,(15) who views compulsive sexual behavior as a variant of obsessive-compulsive disorder, reported that some patients respond dramatically to specific drugs, such as fluoxetine hydrochloride (Prozac) and domipramine hydrochloride (Anafranil).

Pfaff machines have a lot going on inside and I would like to find out how the work. I have a Pfaff 1245. And I can’t find any shaft that powers it. Perhaps the old Pfaff 1245 version has similar adjustments. The concept of these linkages shouldn't have changed dramatically.
