Perhaps the old Pfaff 1245 version has similar adjustments. The concept of these linkages shouldn't have changed dramatically. Without any material under the feet, the outer presser foot doesn't lift much, if at all (this is probably not right). I need to look into that. I'm pretty sure the outer presser foot list is linked to the inner foot, to make sure the outer foot lifts a certain height above whatever the inner foot rests on, no matter how much material is under the feet. The next four chapters cover various brands; Pfaff, White models with oscillating shuttles (common to most Japanese imported badged models) New Home machines and one Brother model. The important point is that the author chose certain popular models to illustrate different mechanisms, allowing you too use those principles to repair most vintage sewing machine models on your own. This is a very good book on vintage sewing machine repair.Many of the drawings are cramped and barely legible. The hardback version is probably larger, and therefore may contain larger, clearer drawings.
