RTFM What a concept I tried out everything and checked the valves all seems to be in good working order. The back side of the hydraulic pump (where the belts are) on the bad side had some oily looking areas like a possible leak so I went ahead and ordered a new pump to see if this corrects the problem. I also found a parts manual for my mower, the only problem is I think most of the parts have been replaced. I need a new hydraulic oil filter (might as well change this too) and the part number is 103-2146. I found this part somewhere but it said the filter size was 25 microns and I thought these were 10 microns. Any suggestions where I can find the proper part. They said if it happens, they back the throttle down to about 90 and it will eliminate the running hot problem. Those are the only two issues we know about it. It has been cutting approximately 7 acres, once a week for in the Spring, Summer, and Fall since 2001. It has been and is a great machine. Then there is Toro also using the same engine in their Groundsmaster mowers and Workman Utility so that could also factor on the switch. The Groundsmaster mowers actually switched to a Kubota diesel but kept the Daihatsu gas version later on.It has around 620 hours. I have to admit that I never noticed the difference in my paperwork regarding the horsepower. Considering that the Daihatsu DM-series engine was also developed as a gas engine with the same external dimensions, I'm surprised that Toro produced the 520Lxi with the Kawasaki engine. I'm sure that it isn't like the GM Oldsmobile diesel of the 1970s. On a diesel, power is largely a product of the specific fuel rate delivered by the injection pump and can be set wherever the manufacturer wants within limits. The Cub is rated at 17 and the Dxi at the afformentioned 27hp. The Horse starts way better in the cold than the Cub does even with new upgraded glow plugs. RTFM What a concept I tried out everything and checked the valves all seems to be in good working order. The back side of the hydraulic pump (where the belts are) on the bad side had some oily looking areas like a possible leak so I went ahead and ordered a new pump to see if this corrects the problem. I need a new hydraulic oil filter (might as well change this too) and the part number is 103-2146. I found this part somewhere but it said the filter size was 25 microns and I thought these were 10 microns. Any suggestions where I can find the proper part. The Groundsmaster mowers actually switched to a Kubota diesel but kept the Daihatsu gas version later on.It has around 620 hours. I have to admit that I never noticed the difference in my paperwork regarding the horsepower. Considering that the Daihatsu DM-series engine was also developed as a gas engine with the same external dimensions, I'm surprised that Toro produced the 520Lxi with the Kawasaki engine.
