dka790gx manual
The 790GX platform brought us new and updated technology designed to maximize our computing experience but the most notable addition was the inclusion of Sideport Memory used to boost the onboard graphics. The Sideport Memory helps increase the graphics processing by giving you a faster frame buffer before using the shared system memory. This feature however only works when using the onboard video or a discrete card paired with the onboard video in Hybrid CrossFireX. The 790GX also offers dual PCI Express 2.0 slots for CrossFire combination's that will make your mouth water. The MSI 790GX series boards come in four flavors the KA790GX, the KA790GX-M which adds Sideport memory, the DKA790GX which adds DrMOS with no Sideport memory, and the DKA790GX Platinum which has both DrMOS and the Sideport memory. This boards Sideport memory comes in as a 1Gbit (128MB) DDR3 1333MHz chip directly soldered to the motherboard ready to add a fast performance increase to your onboard video, up to 15. This is only the tip of what the MSI DKA790GX Platinum has to offer so let's get into the review to learn all about it. Along side him are logos of hardware supported including 140w processors, Quad Core CPU's, and the ATI chipset. There is also a box showing what the DrMOS supports to keep your system more efficient. On the back of the box there are pictures of highlighted features on the DKA790GX Platinum motherboard as well as an overall picture of the board itself. You can find the model number and total number of manuals listed below. Say hello to the MSI Platinum standard. It is well known that platinum is better than gold. This awesome mobo is loaded with just about everything you could want so it truly deserves the platinum MSI DKA790GX drivers will help to eliminate failures and correct errors in your device's operation. Download MSI DKA790GX drivers for different OS Windows versions (32 and 64 bit). Closer Look: To install the drivers and software all you need to do is pop the CD into the drive and the program will auto start. You are presented with a menu system from MSI. Lastly is the Manual MSI's DKA790GX Platinum motherboard MSI has arranged the slots so that a double-wide CrossFire config still leaves you with available PCIe x1 and standard PCI slots, which is a nice touch. MSI DKA790GX Plati. Unfortunately, mainboard manufacturers tend to change certain components and heatsinks without pointing it out by using corresponding revision names. For use in systems from Dell, HP or Lenovo, please note this FAQ. Today we will take a look at it. The only difference between this board and the Platinum Edition are the missing 128MB sideport memory and Firewire ports. It strikes us as very odd to have two versions of the same board. Gamers will put in a graphics-card anyway, but 128MB sideport memory are so cheap, so is the Firewire chip. This is a controller made for AMD split-plane CPUs, so you won't find this on any Intel board. As expected it can handle CPUs up to 140W TDP. The CPU-power connector is only a standard 4-pin, we would liked to have seen an EPS connector which is standard on all their Intel high-end boards. The memory slots are too close to the CPU socket. As long as you use only two modules, you can use the orange slots to keep heatpipes of some CPU-coolers away.
https://furkansigorta.com.tr/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1628bb4cbbc610---Canon-sd750-manual.pdf
Otherwise you have to be very careful selecting the CPU-cooler, also if you are using memory-modules with big heatsinks, such as Corsair Dominators. MSI engineers didn't quite think that through. Below the memory slots resides the ATX 2.2 power connector. The slots are configured in typical MSI style. Using two triple-slot Radeon cards in Crossfire-configuration will steal all your slots. While this board is designed for Crossfire, the board misses an additional PCIe power socket, so you should not try saving money with a cheap power-supply, when you are planning to use Crossfire. Between the PCIe slots you find two useless jumpers. First the locations is totally wrong, you can't access them if you have a dual-slot card and dare to use something like an additional sound-card, second this jumper offers 10,15 and 20 FSB overclocking capability. For users who want to overclock they will do it by BIOS or AMDs Overdrive Utility and non experienced users won't care, because the jumper doesn't increase all the necessary voltages. For some reason all vendors go for the cheapest PCIe Gb LAN solution on the market, which is the Realtek RTL8111C. A Marvell, Broadcom or Intel chip would have been a better choice, but of course opting for a better chip would also have increased costs. Audio is also provided by a Realtek chip: the ALC888. Also the clock generator is a Realtek chip, so it seems this board has been designed for lowest possible cost. The forth chip is used to provide HDMI. This is the best solution available because the connectors won't interfere with any cards. Also the PATA connector is angled, very good. The board has only one eSATA port which has been taken from the SB750, so you get only five internal connectors which should suffice for most users. This part of the board is nearly perfect. As usual all boards feature CMOS Clear, Reset and Power-On Button.
avtomix.com/upload/files/compaq-presario-cq60-technical-manual.pdf
While there would have been lots of space on the backpanel, for some reasons the CMOS Clear button is not there, which would have been the smarter solution. BIOS: As usual MSI is using a AMI 1MB BIOS. We have ranted about some stupid BIOS settings in the past, and guess what, nothing has changed. We have no idea which gamer is using serial ports and floppies, especially because MSI has finally managed to include a BIOS flasher in the BIOS itself, that took only two years. FSB-Overclocking: The board was stable with 265MHz FSB, which is quite an achievement. With a Black Edition you don't need to overclock via FSB, just increase the multiplier and there you go. Memory: The board auto-detects 800MHz, but you can change the multiplier easily so the CPU does 1067MHz. Conclusion: We have not included benches this time, you can check them out at our previous review. The other reason is, we have a new test setup with some enhancements which we will introduce shorty. While we are not happy with some design decisions, the connectors for the SATA and PATA are located at the best possible position. Most importantly the board worked stable and fine. We hope that some BIOS issues will get resolved, as we discussed it with MSI far too many times. Anyways, every experienced user should be able to set the BIOS correctly. If you are unsure of some settings, drop us an email, we will try to help you. The board does offer nice overclocking capabilities. Besides that, MSI has the most energy-efficient boards in the market. The only problem is the price. While a second graphics card may come in handy, for gamers it doesn't offer serious gaming-power. If you have the extra cash, the hardware will not disappoint you. I just bought this mobo last week, its my first MSI mobo, and I am very dissapointed with it. It has its own positive side though, but its nothing compared to my experience using gigabyte motherboards. 1. MSI Live Update - based on peoples reviews in newegg, most of them are stating not to flash BIOS using MSI live update. I think that it will certainly messed up your mboard. I need to know, for those who already owns this, if you are succesfull in using MSI's Live Update. 2. Manual BIOS download - the platinum version has its own section on where u can download the BIOS manually, for DOS flashing ofcourse. For people who owns this, do you think the BIOS for the platinum and the regular version are the same.U don't know if theyre already activated or not because u need to exert a certain force to it.Do you guys think its another BIOS issue? 6. CPU voltage adjustment - Im confused as to why there are 2 cpu voltage option in BIOS setup. I'm confused as to what I really need to adjust inorder to push my CPU. I've played with it, changing both or just 1, was able to succesfully OC my CPU somehow, But failed some of the stability test I ran. Im thinking it has something to do with the BIOS again?! If u think about it, it all boils down to BIOS issues. I am also planning to sell this Mboard and buy Foxconn A7DA-S instead, but I can probably change my mind depending on other people's point of view.Thank You! You may have to post a question on more than one forum and wait awhile for an answer. Do more research on the foxconn before ordering. Foxconn boards haven't been known to overclock well. Avoid using the MSI update for BIOS update, it corrupts the BIOS and render the motherboard unusable. PC powering off now. We are working every day to make sure our community is one of the best.

Not in the case, not in the shop. So I RMA'd that one. The next one I got did the exact same thing. Power but no boot. There's some flaw in the manufacturing of this board I would say. Steer clear of this one.

This however, is an attractive design if you like that sort of thing and while I am not a big fan of gimmick images, I do realise that the box has to appeal to the larger market so I can forgive MSI for that. The embossed lettering advertises the contents, which stand out on the matte black packaging. If the figure didn't already suggest as much, then the emblem to the bottom right tells us that this motherboard is from MSIs gaming series. Being ATI compatible and having on board HD3300 graphics is yet another hint to the motherboards capabilities along with MSI being keen to point out that the DKA790GX is 140W CPU ready. The rear of the package goes into greater details regarding the motherboards features which among others include GreenPower, XpressCool, RapidBoost and Hybrd CrossfireX. MSI never disappoint on the accessory front and the DKA790GX is no different in this respect. Disappointingly there was no HDMI adaptor but that is perhaps the only item you could miss in what is otherwise a complete accessory list. MSI have never been a manufacturer to utilise discrete colours and the DKA790GX is no different. The black PCB is perhaps the MSIs saving grace in that there doesn't appear to be any specific theme followed with a vivid display of colours utilised throughout. The most striking thing about the board though is the Northbridge heatsink which interconnects to the Southbridge via dual copper heatpipes. The Mosfet cooler is a stand alone affair emblazoned with the DrMOS logo. The rear of the board is as clear as it is dark with nothing extraordinary worth mentioning. The CPU socket is relatively clear and looks very neat and tidy thanks to the power regulators being situated all along the left hand side of the CPU socket. Solid caps and ferrite core chokes are the order of the day here so longevity shouldn't be a problem.
I was a little concerned regarding the proximity of the DIMM slots and this concern had foundation because if you intend to use an over sized cooler along with memory which has heatsinks, you might struggle to get them to fit in the left most slot. Normal sized heatsinks should not be a problem but it will certainly be worthwhile doing a mock installation before screwing everything in place. The MSI still makes use of the ATX 12v 4-pin plug rather than adapting itself to the newer 8-pin standard. Proof that the AMD boards have yet to require the extra power needed on Intel motherboards. The Northbridge and Southbridge heatsinks are both copper and rely on ambient air rather than being force fed with a noisy chipset fan. Dual heatpipes connect both the NB and SB ensuring that the heatload is evenly spread and both heatsinks are attached to the motherboard via plastic push-pin style attachments. Here is an area I would like to see improvement as Intel are slowly making the move towards screw type fixings, it would be nice to see AMD based motherboards follow suit but, like the CPU's AMD are still found wanting in this area. The PCI section of the board is well thought out with the main 16x PCIe slot well clear of any obstructions and a full size graphics card should fit with no problem. In line with the second PCIe x1 slot are the little overclocking dip switches that overclocks the front side bus of the board. Ideal if you don't fancy messing with the motherboards BIOS functions. 0-20 overclocks can be enabled by the use of various configurations and these switches should be easily accessible even with both GPU slots occupied, thanks to its location. Extending the motherboards peripheral support is easy thanks to MSIs M-Connectors which allow the user to easily plug the various headers into a mini module before plugging said module into the appropriate and colour coded slot.
Four right angled SATA ports with a perpendicular port allow easy connecting of your SATA drives which shouldn't come loose thanks to the provided quick-latch cables. Rounding off the bottom of the board we come to the on-board switches which are the usual Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons. Still, this is a great feature which is gratefully becoming commonplace on motherboards towards the upper echelon of the range. Standing out from the crowd is the DVI and VGA ports of the on board Radeon HD3300 IGP. Optical out is supported by six 3.5mm audio jacks for true HD 7.1 surround sound, a firewire port, e-SATA, HDMI and a further 4 USB 2.0 ports complete the connectivity. Taking the heatsinks off the DKA790GX was a relatively simple affair. As mentioned previously, the heatsinks are all attached via plastic push-pins so a quick squeeze with the tweezers and away they came. Adding your own cooling shouldn't be too much of an issue as the holes didn't appear to be obstructed. The Mosfets, northbridge and southbridge all had good contact to the heatsink with all the thermal tape on the mosfet showing the telltale dimples of the mosfets. The paste used on the NB and SB was some purple affair which I haven't come across before but it didn't seem to be a very good material as it was 'putty' like in texture and not paste which is usually a better material to use thanks to its ability to reach all the microscopic crevices found in all heatsinks. All in all its a solid showing form MSI thus far with a well thought out, if somewhat colourful design. The included accessories are a major plus point with only the missing HDMI adapter missing. Everything on the board itself is in the right place and should not present any major issues. The lack of SATA ports may be an issue for some but with 1TB drives now within the budget of most people, I would assume up to 5TB should be plenty for even the most ardent of storage freaks.

That is providing full-range product solution; the 790GX chipset supports CrossFire technology, built-in high performance HD3300, and combined into Micro-ATX and ATX form factor. It is a better flexible combination. The price is also different due to the different form factors. The ATX version is about 120-160USD while the Micro-ATX solution is 100-130USD. This time we get high-end MSI DKA 790GX Platinum motherboard for testing. The ATX version is priced at about 160USD. Product Packaging Positioned at high-end version, the quality of the package is good. DRAM CORSAIR Dominator TWIN4096-8500C5D(2GBX2 DDR2 1066) OC DDR2 1138 CL5 5-5-15 2T 1.90V 3 X SP2004 Blend But MSI DKA790GX Platinum in DRAM overclocking is surprisingly good, especially overclocking 2GBX2. The 4GB Kit can reach 1138 score at 1.9V stability and limit the performance of 1189; it is a very good AMD platform. The GPU can reach 1000MHz by overclocking. The HD 3300 GPU of the 790GX is the most powerful 3D version in the market. Compared with Intel’s latest G45 series, the performance is leading. AMD is more popular in the All-in-One motherboard. For heavy-loading games, it can retain the 20-30 standards as long as the resolution is not more than 1280 x 1024. Compared with NVIDIA rival products, the performance is close to GeForce 7 series products. In the stand-by mode and full-speed load, the Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition accounts for the majority of power. 790GX with dual-core voltage CPU, down to 1GHz at 0.
8V voltage, the power consumption of stand-by and full-speed is only 43W and 59W. It is very energy-saving. The 3D performance is better than the AMD 780G chipset or other chipset. 6.Dual-core FSB performance is outstanding. 2GBX2 DDR2 overclocking is also good. Disadvantage 1.The appearance of Circu-pipe cooling modules can be even more beautiful. 2.The packing image and boot image do not increase the consumer’s attraction. 3.The BIOS setting with four CPU voltage options can easily confuse the users. MSI has also introduced a value solution, KA790GX which is priced around 100USD. Although the materials and specifications are not as good as DKA790GX Platinum, but the price is lower. Users who want a new platform with high performance and new SB750 South Bridge can choose the entry-level KA790GX. MSI DKA790GX Platinum has a good stability. The BIOS overclocking performance is quite stable. In the future, I hope that the other MSI MB products can also maintain the same stability and offer further upgradeability in the future. What country do you live in ? After that, you can post your question and our members will help you out. If you're having a computer problem, ask on our forum for advice. Which board will prevail in this head-to-head contest? Besides the ability to use the latest and greatest AMD CPUs, they are feature-rich, support CrossFire and Hybrid CrossFire and offer a capable IGP with digital outputs — all this at prices that won’t break the bank. The two boards are based around the same 790GX and SB750 chipsets and sport similar features, so it will interesting to see which board distinguishes itself, and whether it will do so in a positive manner. It is likely we will find only minor differences, but either way, it will give us insight about what approaches the two manufacturers take in design and implementation, and how this affects the overall user experience. Both boards have 128MB of integrated 1333MHz DDR3 Sideport memory.
Only four SATA data cables and a 2-port USB bracket. The floppy connector is in a horrible spot below the last PCI slot. The VRM area next to the socket is orderly. They are connected by two heatpipes. The Bad: 4-pin ATX12V and floppy connector placement is the same as the Gigabyte board and the edge of the northbridge heatsink is very close to the CPU socket. Only one PWM fan header is available — the other two are of the 3-pin variety. The MSI has a bonus feature — power, reset, and cleaer CMOS buttons right on the PCB. The board’s layout seems a bit more polished and thoughtful than the 790GP-DS4H. MSI’s VRM heatsink is rather diminuitive compared to Gigabyte’s. We hope this wasn’t a coincidence. The ability to manipulate frequencies, voltages, and fan control settings vary depending on the hardware and the amount of confidence in the user by the manufacturer. VGA clock and Sideport memory options are available as well. Fan control settings were lacking. Both the CPU and System fan can be controlled, but the only settings available are “Enabled” and “Disabled.” Fan control was more detailed as it allows for the user to specify a target CPU temperature and minimum fan speed for the CPU fan. The System fan can be set to a constant speed of 50, 75 or 100. We noticed that the MSI board does not allow the integrated graphics to use Sideport memory only — it requires some amount of system memory to be allocated, with 32MB being the minimum. That was the biggest obvious difference. For AMD X2 CPUs we use CPUBurn K7 as it seems to tax AMD processors more. To stress the IGP, we use ATITool artifact scanner, ATITool 3DView, or FurMark, whichever application is found to be more power hungry. The clips are played with PowerDVD and a CPU usage graph is created by the Windows Task Manger for analysis to determine the approximate mean CPU usage. High CPU usage is indicative of poor video decoding ability on the part of the integrated graphics subsystem.

Manual BIOS download - the platinum version has its own section on where u can download the BIOS manually, for DOS flashing ofcourse.
